Carex arenaria-Sand Sedge
Extensive shallow rooting system allows this species to exploit moisture from summer showers
Individual plants are connected by rhizomes which anchor the plant and stabilise the sand.
C.flacca does well if semi-waterlogged but C.nigra does well when fully waterlogged. C.arenaria is intolerant of waterlogging.
